Moraga Boy Scout Troop 212 recently honored its four newest Eagle Scouts - Ted Weber, Ben Smith, Wilson Lomas and Sven Gamsky - during a National Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church (MVPC). The Eagle Scout rank is the highest award that a Scout can earn. Nationally, only about two percent of all boys who enter the Scouting program earn the award.
Weber attends Campolindo High School where he is active in concert choir, film, and is co-spirit commissioner. His Eagle service project benefits the Nurtury, MVPC's nursery school program, where he built a much-needed storage shed for toys and equipment.
Smith is a senior at Campolindo High School where he is a year-round swimmer. His Eagle service project benefits the Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek. He moved, cleaned and organized over 200 potted plants in the propagation area.
Lomas attends Campolindo High School, where he is a choir member and active in school musicals. He has played water polo for four years and received the coach's and most inspirational award. Wilson's Eagle service project benefits Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School where he built nine birdhouses for large vermin-hungry birds.
Gamsky is the third Eagle Scout in his family. His service project benefits Rheem School in Moraga, where he remodeled a garden area by planting trees, flowers and adding bark cover and a new bench.
