"Escape to Africa" Supports Las Trampas Programs
Submitted by Bonnie Peacock

Escape to Africa was the theme on April 26th when nearly 300 guests gathered at the Lafayette Park Hotel to enjoy the annual "What's In Our Hat?" fundraiser supporting Las Trampas' programs for men and women with developmental disabilities.
This year's event was made possible by our generous sponsors including KTVU Fox 2, KKDV 92.1 and our generous individual sponsors and ambassadors that sold tickets on our behalf. Guests enjoyed the music of Generations in Jazz, a silent auction, raffle and one lucky guest won $10,000 from our Safari Hat! The winner generously donated the money back to Las Trampas in the name of the fabulous Clipped Wings. The Oakland Chapter of the Clipped Wings is an association of retired and current United Airlines Flight Attendants whose mission is to support nonprofit agencies working with people with developmental disabilities. The Clipped Wings "adopted" Las Trampas as their charity when they started their chapter in 1958. We are extremely grateful for their kind support.
Special thanks to everyone in the community that supports Las Trampas and our annual "What's In Our Hat?" event. This year's "Hat" raised $100,000 to support Las Trampas' residential, vocational and day programs. Since 1958, Las Trampas has supported people with developmental disabilities to discover their capabilities and to lead fuller lives in their homes, at work and in the community.
