Moraga's Holiday Home Decorating Contest
By Sophie Braccini

The town of Moraga is preparing to hold its first Holiday Home Decorating Contest, organized by the Parks and Recreation Department. "If you want to become part of Moraga history and be the first to win the contest, register before December 1st," says Parks and Rec Director Jay Ingram, who managed a similar event in Corte Madera, before coming to Moraga. "It gets people in the Holidays spirit," adds Ingram, "and it is a way to recognize folks who want to make a special effort, and have fun doing it."
The Moraga Women's Society has volunteered six of its members to be the judges. "The town set the criteria," said the Society's President, Roberta Klaproth. "Homes will be judged upon creativity, originality, and overall enthusiasm for the holiday spirit."
The judges will tour the homes on the December 17th and choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. "The three winners will be awarded gift certificates to Moraga Hardware and Lumber/Across the Way," said Jay Ingram, "and in January the contest winners will be presented with a plaque by the Town Council."
Ingram would like to encourage residents to register through the town's web site, http://moraga.ca.us, but mail and in-person registration is also available. There is a $10 registration fee.
