It is always a treat when the Pacific Chamber Symphony plays at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center's Community Hall, but the performance at 2 p.m. March 3 will be special for two reasons. Famous international mandolin virtuoso Mike Marshall will join in and Lafayette's Mayor Mike Anderson will be narrating passages from Cervantes' Don Quixote Suite to accompany the concerto of the same name.
"I have always loved 'The Man from La Mancha,' the tale of Don Quixote," said Anderson. "As I'm sure you know, this story is about a character that 'goes crazy' but in that process becomes the classic knight that exhibits the greatest acts of chivalry, valor and triumphs over all that stands in his way; even though it is all in his mind. A true dreamer, willing to pursue his dream regardless of the opinions of others... I do think we could use a few more Don Quixotes today."
