New Director at St. Mark's Nursery School in Orinda
St. Mark's Nursery School, a pillar of early childhood education in Lamorinda for more than 50 years, recently announced that Claire Peterson has accepted the position as director of the school. Peterson comes to St. Mark's with 11 years experience as a head preschool teacher, as well as management experience and 33 credits in Early Childhood Education. A Bay Area native, Peterson is a resident of Orinda and has two children in Lamorinda schools.

New Rector at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Orinda
The Rev. Stephen Hassett will replace The Rev. Dr. Lawrence Hunter, who retired as rector from St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in May. Hassett comes to St. Stephen's from St. John's Church in Ross where he had been associate rector since 2008. Ordained as an Episcopal priest in 2006, Hassett holds a master's in divinity and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley. He and his wife, Clancy, have two young sons and plan to relocate to Orinda in the early fall. Hassett's first Sunday at St. Stephen's will be Sept. 7.
