And The New Name Is...
Image provided

West Commons. That is the new name the parks and recreation commissioners announced for the open space pocket park located west of Moraga Commons, between Moraga Road and the new Camino Ricardo development.
Several meetings have been held on the topic. The commission started with 20 names that were narrowed down to four. These four were subject of a town online survey where some 220 residents participated.
West Commons came in first with 98 votes, followed by Dos
Arroyos with 80 votes.
The new 1.4-acre park will be accessible through the development, and via a bridge on Moraga Road. The concept is that of a passive park, with open meadow, trails and interpretative signs, showing local natural habitats. It could possibly be an educational resource for schools.
The town does not have a set policy to name parks. The commission decided that their recommendation would be sent to the town council for approval as a consent item in September.
