Annual fashion show to benefit Children's Hospital programs
Submitted by Lori Huhn
The Lombardy Branch of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland - a group of volunteer Lamorinda women who have come together for over 40 years to fundraise for the hospital - will host its Annual Fashion Show on March 9 at Orinda Country Club.
This year's fashion show is special: The models will be current patients from the hospital along with their personal doctors. Additionally, Miss California 2016 Jessa Carmack will be in attendance and modeling, and there will be a pop-up boutique featuring Vineyard Vines women's, men's and children's fashions for sale, a raffle, food and drink.
With 30 local members, the Lombardy Branch is dedicated to creating awareness in local communities as well as raising funds to support the institution's goal of providing all children with extraordinary care regardless of the ability to pay. There are currently 12 branches of the hospital in the East Bay. Each branch collaborates to raise money for Children's Hospital through different types of events. Every year, members of the branches provide approximately $1 million to support programs throughout the hospital, including Family House, the Parent-Infant program, Katie's Clinic for Rett syndrome, the neonatal intensive care unit, and the Art for Life program.
