Jan 31 Lost or stolen
A MOFD portable radio left behind at an injury accident scene 12 days earlier was still missing as of early February. C'mon people - this is an expensive and crucial communications tool.

Feb 2 Elder Abuse
Police notified Adult Protective Services that an octogenarian was the victim of identity theft 103 times. The bank came to her rescue when they determined the transactions were unauthorized. They also reimbursed her account. Nice going!

Feb 4 Alarm
A Camino Peral resident notified police of an alarm sounding nearby. Turns out it wasn't a burglar alarm, but a smoke detector left outside that was causing all the ruckus. Bottom line: no smoke, fire or theft. Not even any residents home at that time. Alarming? Probably not ...

Feb 5 Traffic incident
Turns on a dime? Not that Honda CRV. Or perhaps it's the driver. A wide U-turn resulted in some minor damage for the second car (a Beemer) when the Honda driver miscalculated the turning radius heading into an adjacent parking slot.

Feb 6 Found property
A resident turned in an errant backpack found in his front yard to the police department.

Feb 7 Theft documentation
Staff reported a theft from one resident's room. The resident had reported the loss of $400 in cash from his room over the last two or three months but did not want the police involved. Police thought otherwise.
