The Lamorinda 10U Girls took the Junior Olympic National title July 25. This mighty team of 10 players was seeded fourth heading down to Orange County, but came out strong and earned their spot in the championship game against fellow Northern California team, the 680 Drivers. The stands were filled with cheering fans for the 7 p.m. game and the Lamorinda 18U girls came to support the girls by leading cheers throughout the match. All the hard work the girls put in with coaches Emily Heindel, Lindsay Struempf and Eddie Lee all summer paid off. The girls sprinted faster, played stronger defense, made smarter shots and worked together all game to win 5-2.
After the July 25 win, the team was entered into the 10U Coed Division which comprised of over 50 teams. The girls continued to play their game and won all but one of their games against the strong competition, included several all-boys teams. The girls ended their four-day Junior Olympic run with a 7-1 record, the best ever for the Lamorinda 10U team.
