Get Registered! October 20th is the last day to register to vote in the November 4th, 2008 election

This November's election is one you don't want to miss. If you are not registered to vote in Lamorinda, you can easily remedy this situation in the next weeks. It's easy! Pick up a voter registration form at one of the following locations: Post Office, Department of Motor Vehicles, Library, City Clerk Offices, Contra Costa County Elections Office, or online at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm. First- time voters will need to prove their identity. Fill out the form in dark ink and always make sure you sign your name in order for your registration to be valid. Mail it to Stephen L. Weir County Clerk, PO BOX 271, Martinez, CA, 94553-0027. To be able to vote in the November 4th election, your application needs to be post-marked by October 20th. Do not forget to re-register if you have any change to your name, residence or mailing address. You need to re-register if you moved, even if your change of address is within the same city. Once your affidavit of registration is submitted to the Contra Costa County Election Department for processing, you should receive a written notification within 3-4 weeks. If you do not receive notification, please contact Contra Costa County Elections at 925-335-7800. Any registered voter may opt for a "Vote By Mail Ballot." To apply for a Vote By Mail Ballot you may use one of the following methods: Apply in writing to Contra Costa County Election Department, P.O. Box 271, Martinez, CA, 94553. You must include the name and date of the election you are applying for, your printed name and signature, your residence address, the address you would like the ballot mailed to and a telephone number where you can be reached during normal business hours; OR obtain a Vote By Mail Ballot application by using the application you will receive in the Sample Ballot which will be sent to each registered voter. Once you have submitted your application for a Vote By Mail Ballot, if you do not receive it within 7 days, please contact the Contra Costa County Elections Department at (925) 335-7800. In order to vote in the November election, your request needs to be postmarked October 28th. The earliest you can mail your ballot is October 6th.
