| Published September 3, 2008 | Lafayette Flag Brigade to Present September 11th Event | By Cathy Tyson | | | Although it's been seven years since 9/11, The Lafayette Flag Brigade will be hosting their biggest event ever on that date at the El Curtola Bridge over Highway 24. Co-Founder Jim Minder said, "We're putting this on because it's real important that we don't forget, and to remember there are a number of lessons that we should have learned from that day."
This non-political family event features a number of speakers and musical performances concluding with a candlelight vigil, prayer and Taps. Although the program starts at 3:00 p.m., the main focus will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., kicking off with the Honorable Abram Wilson as a VIP Speaker.
According to Minder, over one hundred extra large flags will be on display, along with a Wall of Honor showcasing photos and posters donated right after 9/11. The Blue Star Mom's will have a table so the public can participate in "Operation Postcard" for our troops. Free flags for kids will be given out.
