| Published April 1st, 2009 | Upcoming Bike Safety Rodeo for Kids Big Wheels Keep on Turning | By Cathy Tyson | | | As part of the big Earth Day celebration at Stanley Intermediate School on April 19, kindergarten through sixth grade bicyclists are invited to brake for the Bike Safety Rodeo from noon until 4:00 p.m. Young pedal-lers can practice riding through a mini-version of a city sidewalk and street, have their rides checked by mechanics from Sharp Bicycle, and have helmets adjusted.
Like regular flossing, good habits start early - kids are encouraged to stop by to learn about bike safety practices, rules of the road, sample some refreshments, and more.
Kids and their parents should consider riding their bikes to the event, since obviously they'll need their bikes anyway, but due to Earth Day activities, parking will be limited.
The Rodeo is sponsored by The City of Lafayette, Sustainable Lafayette, and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
