Campolindo High School senior Justin Batcheller was the only student in Contra Costa County to receive the Frank H. Buck Scholarship, which is awarded to exceptional students who "possess leadership potential as well as a commitment to their school, community and family." Buck Scholarship funding supplements any other financial aid or awards that a Buck Scholar may receive, covering all ordinary costs of education. In addition to this honor, Batcheller has also recognized as a North Coast Section Scholar Athlete, is a member of the California Scholastic Federation, and was one of five recipients in Contra Costa County of Diablo Magazine's Thread of Hope award. Batcheller is the founder of Operation Lamorinda Soldier, which sends care packages to soldiers in Iraq. He recently became an Eagle Scout in Lafayette Troop 204, with the help of Lisa Disbrow, Blue Star Mom, who helped with his Eagle Project supporting the troops.
