BSA Troop 200, chartered by Our Savior's Lutheran Church, announced that Kyle Benner achieved Scouting's highest rank, Eagle Scout. From his humble beginnings in a Minnesota Cub Scout pack, to his present participation in Troop 200 and Crew 200 (venturing scouts), Kyle has exhibited the true spirit of scouting.
Between earning 21 merit badges, school, and auto mechanics, Benner still found time to be on the Acalanes High School soccer team for three consecutive years.
His Eagle project, with the aid of Friends of the Lafayette Creeks, was to repair and install creek identification signs over a dozen locations around Lafayette. Leading over 20 scouts and friends for a total time invested of well above 100 hours, he successfully aided both the organization and the community.
His many achievements will be celebrated in the main sanctuary of Our Savior's Lutheran Church (1035 Carol Lane in Lafayette) at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 29. A reception will follow. For more information, contact Scoutmaster John Spahr at 944-9467 or Troop Committee Chairman Greg Wikler at 284-7360.
