2nd Arrest Made After Death of Miramonte Student
By Lee Borrowman
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday, May 26, that a second arrest has been made in the case involving the death of 16 year-old Joseph Loudon of Orinda. A 16 year-old boy was arrested on two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor and contributing to the deliquency of a minor. He was released to the custody of his father.  Orinda Police suspect that the boy supplied alcohol that was consumed at a party on Hillcrest Drive last Saturday. Police also indicated that their investigation is ongoing, and that one or more additional arrests are likely because they believe the suspect was not acting alone. Orinda Police Chief William French said it appeared that Loudon died of alcohol poisoning but the exact cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy, including toxicology tests, was performed on Tuesday morning; the results will be known in 6-8 weeks. Read the full story on page 15
