John Wintersteen surrounded by many of the Lamorinda Republican Women Federated who brought many
items for Project Marine Care Photo provided
Thursday, September 17th, was a good day for John Wintersteen, employee of the Lafayette Veterans' Hall, and the organization he supports, The Marine Corps League. With a catch in his throat, John thanked Lamorinda Republican Women Federated members who donated many items to be distributed through his organization for Project Marine Care. "You just can't imagine what it means to the soldiers to get packages like this, especially to those who don't often get a package from home." Stacks of items including personal toiletry items, iTunes cards, international calling cards, snacks, monetary donations and more were brought by many of the over 100 members of LRWF at their monthly luncheon at the Orinda Country Club.
Jon Winterseen explained that his group provides support to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Philippines, Djibouti, Kuwait and anywhere in "harms' way." While most of their packages go to Marines and Navy Corpsmen, they also ship to the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Seabees any time a request comes in for them. If anyone would like information on how to send boxes, email Jon at steenmarine@yahoo.com and he will send you a Package Protocol and a list of goods that are updated periodically. If you prefer to send money to help pay for the shipping costs, send to: MCL DET 942 c/o John Wintersteen, 436 Sycamore Circle; Danville, CA 94526.
