Lafayette Police Blotter

Joyriding in the Parents' Car, 10/3/09 Lafayette Police clocked the subject going over 75 mph on Highway 24 near the Central Lafayette exit. After pulling the subject over for speeding, officers learned the subject had a few priors. Due to multiple DUI probations, the subject was required to only drive vehicles that are equipped with an Ignition Interlock Device. Unfortunately, Mom and Dad had failed to install such a device in their own vehicle and "Son of the Day" was operating their IID-free vehicle on a suspended license. Given the Viagra tablet found in Boy Wonder's possession, we could guess that the officer was not the only one in "hot pursuit." Unfortunately, this dreadful Casanova forgot to obtain a prescription before taking possession of his growth pill. The subject's stay at the Martinez Detention Facility lasted for more than four hours.

Cut Lock, 10/5/09 Lafayette Police were summoned to the Lafayette Community Center when an alert employee discovered the lock had been cut on a storage shed. The shed is home to hockey equipment and a $200 cash box. The report did not indicate whether or not any items were missing.

Car Burglary, 10/14/09 A handy burglar managed to break into one of the few locked vehicles in Lafayette. The strong villain smashed the passenger side window and made away with $250 in property. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $300. A curiosity: should we just leave the doors unlocked so these knuckleheads don't break our windows, too?

Another Razor Bandit Came to Town
10/17/09 - An alert Safeway employee observed the thief placing a box of Gillette razors in her purse. The fake customer proceeded to exit the store into the parking lot and place her purse in the trunk of a late model blue car. Police apprehended the vehicle and pulled it over. The subject submitted to a search that resulted in the discovery of three unopened boxes of Gillette razors in her purse. The subject admitted to stealing and told the officer she was "just trying to support her family."
