The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff recently held a K-9 and SWAT demonstration for Boy Scout Troop 220 at the Lafayette Elementary School. Throughout the year, the K-9 unit performs several demonstrations. Demonstrations are invaluable because they allow everyone to meet the dogs, see what they can do and ask questions about police work. "It lets people feel at ease and dispels a lot of myths people believe about police K-9's," said K-9 Officer Brian McDevitt of the Lafayette Police Department. Two Sheriff's Office SWAT members were also there with the BearCat tactical armored vehicle.
