Local Stores and Artists Prepare for the Holidays
On Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, Clocks Etc. (971 Moraga Rd.) and its neighbor Design Within Reach (973 Moraga Rd.), in association with Mechanics Bank, will be hosting An Artful Gathering, a showcase of unique works of art by local artists. The seven artists to be featured are Jude Coren (candlemaker), Brian Giambastiani (glassblower and metal artist), Karin Lechner (beaded jewelry designer), Margaret Lucas-Hill (painter), Judy Bolef Miller (sculptor), Cheryl Wolff-Potter and Linda Yoshizawa (printmakers).
During Friday evening's Artists Reception, visitors can enjoy wine and hors' d'oeuvres while chatting with the artists and seeing their work. Saturday will be an opportunity to kick off your holiday shopping, as the displayed works will be for sale. "This event is an outgrowth of the 'Try Lafayette First' campaign," said Wendy Tamis of Clocks, Etc. "We wanted to give the community a chance to see and purchase local art," she explained.
The show will be held on Friday, November 13 from 5-8pm and Saturday, November 14 from 10am-5pm. For more information, call Clocks, Etc. at 284-4720.
The next day, November 15th, from 1 to 4 p.m., Mt Diablo Nursery & Garden will be featuring local artists with handmade, local and unique items including soaps, lotions, sachets, olive oils, wines, honey, glass ornaments and more.
