| | | | | | The 5th grade Burton Valley Girl Scout troop has begun its Bronze project in conjunction with the Lafayette Convalescent Hospital (LCH). On September 4, 2009, the Scouts voted to adopt the LCH for a series of visits they call, "Fun for All Activities." After some consideration, and not liking the terms "elderly", "patients" or "older people," the girls decided to call the LCH residents, "The Wise Ones." The above photo is from their first visit on November 18, 2009. The girls brought in paint, canvases and brushes to paint clay pots and art work to decorate their new friends' rooms, and engaged the Wise Ones with love, genuine interest and caring. The troop's next visit will be on December 2, 2009; they will bring supplies to bake homemade fudge with their new friends, and small plants and soil to plant in the pots they painted.
