Rotary Home Team

A light bulb needs changing. The window or door needs weather stripping. The faucet is leaking and the caulking around the tub needs to be replaced. And it's been ages since the batteries in the smoke detector were checked or changed. Maybe you used to do these chores but just can't any more. Or maybe your spouse used to do them, but he or she is no longer with us. What can you do?

You can call on the Rotary HOME Team. "HOME" stands for HOme Maintenance for the Elderly, and it's an ongoing project of the Rotary Club of Lamorinda Sunrise. The Rotary HOME Team is the brainchild of the Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary Club and it exists to help with those little maintenance chores around the home that everyone has to face.

The HOME Team gets referrals from groups and agencies that already are involved with the elderly. Folks can also contact the HOME Team by calling (925) 956-7363, faxing (925) 944-7011, or e-mailing at

RotaryHomeTeam@gmail.com. Then Rotarians go out in teams of two or three, complete with a set of tools and supplies that make short work of many of those jobs that seem like no big deal - until you have no way to get them done.

There is no charge to the people the Rotary HOME Team helps. There is one unanswered question, though: Who is happier, the people the HOME Team helps or the Rotarians who do the work? We'll call it a draw.
