Lafayette Police Blotter

To Trust or Not to Trust? 3/4/10 A Read Drive resident had an unpleasant experience with a hired worker. To begin with, the worker was arrested at the home on a prior warrant. At the time of the arrest, Lafayette Police took possession of the worker's backpack. Discovered inside the backpack were two hard drives and jewelry that had been taken from the resident's home. Sounds like this fellow really knows how to make the most of his "alone time."

Bank Robbery 3/15/10 An unknown criminal entered Bank of the West on Mt. Diablo Boulevard and robbed the bank at gunpoint. The subject was wearing a white jumpsuit that was described by witnesses as a "bug spraying outfit." The bank was open at the time of the robbery and the suspect held both employees and customers at gunpoint while he collected $11,000 in cash from the tellers. The suspect left through the rear door and drove away in a white van. Why is it always a white van? Be on the lookout for suspicious bug sprayers in white vans.

Acalanes Vandal 3/16/10 An Acalanes student confessed to vandalizing school property with a Sharpie permanent maker during the period September 2009 - March 2010. The vandal made a habit of writing on bathroom walls and hallway floors - what a peculiar use of time. Was the resulting felony charge worth the certain satisfaction that was derived from destroying school property?

Not Your Average Burglar 3/18/10 An unknown suspect entered a Los Palos Drive home by prying open a side door to the home. The owner returned to find the home ransacked. Missing were jewelry items, wine and a German violin. Photos were taken of the pry marks and ransacked interior. In all there was $30,000 worth of stolen items and $1,000 in damage to the home.
