Maxine celebrated her 100th Birthday with family and friends at Moraga Royale where she has lived for the past eight years. She is a vibrant member of the community who continues to attend exercise class every morning and has been voted "Best Dressed" resident. She continues to be an inspiration to all the staff and residents at Moraga Royale, always finding the positive side of any given situation.
Maxine Davies Paulson Goodbread was born March 12, 1910 in Castle Gate Utah, one of 6 children (4 boys and 2 girls). She lived in several towns in Utah where her father, F.S. Davies, owned a 60-acre cherry ranch and was the 79th member of the BYU Alumni Association. He was also a professor and head of the Economics Department.
Acting on a direct request from J.C. Penney himself, the family moved to Denver where Maxine's father became the manager of the J.C. Penney store. Maxine spent her formative years in Denver. She attended Colorado Woman's College before she met and married Thomas Glen Paulson.
Maxine and Glenn moved many places in the West where Glenn managed different Penney's stores. They had one son, Thomas Glenn Paulson. After the passing of her beloved husband, Maxine later married Paul Goodbread who was the San Francisco Director of the Atomic Energy Commission. Maxine is the sole survivor of all her siblings. She has one son, two grandsons, two granddaughters and ten great grandchildren.
Maxine is a truly loved and admired member of our Community and we hope to celebrate many more birthdays together.
