About 100 kids came with their families to a Rotary of Lafayette tradition - the Community Egg Scramble. Members of the club invited the community to meet the Easter Bunny, who wore yellow for the occasion. Some of the young visitors needed a little time to warm up to the big, friendly bunny with the long ears.
Everyone had to leave the green to give Rotary volunteers room to scatter candy on the ground. Kids of kindergarten age and younger got a head start on the hunt, but the field was soon open to children of all ages. Within a couple of minutes all the candy was collected and kids swarmed around the bunny, showing off their trophies. After a second round of foraging for treats, most baskets were nearly full and about 100 happy hunters departed Plaza Park.
During the event adults were asked to buy tickets for the club's upcoming raffle, to be held at the Concert at the Reservoir on May 5th, which will benefit local schools.
