Established to support community events, programs, visual and performing arts, and community related partnerships in the City, the Orinda Community Fund was incorporated in March of this year. With the elimination of support from the City's budget during these lean economic times for civic agencies, the Community Fund was created to respond to the increasing need to provide privately raised dollars to support community events. Five community members were recently chosen to serve as the Founding Board of Trustees: Richard Westin, President, Dick Burkhalter, Vice President, Paula Goodwin, Secretary, Carol Penskar, Treasurer and Sue Severson, Trustee. Several fundraising events are being planned for 2010 including a Celebrity Golf Tournament on July 25th and 26th, the second annual NorCal Kids Triathlon September 25th, and the 25th Anniversary Silver Ball gala dinner in partnership with the arts on October 2nd.
