Three Moraga youths recently competed at the Junior Olympics and US Open Karate Championships held at Caesars Hotel in Las Vegas. Over 42 countries and 1000 competitors attended these two prestigious events. Brothers Ryan (9) and Cole (7) Jeter, and Nathan Correll (11) competed in both kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) events. Cole garnered a bronze in the kumite novice division, and Nathan captured gold in the beginner division. Fellow team members Keanu Karsevar (14) of Dublin and Crystal Lee (15) of Oakland brought home a total of 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals. These young competitors are students at the Northern California Karate-do dojo.
