American Graffiti Next Up in Classic Film Series at Orinda Theater

The California Independent Film Festival (CAIFF) will continue its monthly classic film series on May 22nd with three screenings of the coming-of-age comedy drama American Graffiti. "We know there are many film lovers who enjoy classic films," states CAIFF's Program and Promotions Director Beau Behan. "The huge success of the screening of The Birds with Tippi Hedren back in September confirmed that film goers in Lamorinda really like to revisit the classic films. It's great to keep the series going," he adds.
Depicting teen life in the 1960's, American Graffiti is loosely based on the movie's writer/director George Lucas' young experiences in Modesto. The adventures of a group of teens on a summer night is told as they cruise in cars to a soundtrack of early rock and roll hits. Nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, the film stars Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, and Cindy Williams among others. Williams will attend all three screenings of the movie in Orinda and participate in question and answer sessions with the audience afterward. American Graffiti will screen May 22nd at 12:45 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 7:15 p.m. at the Orinda Theater. Tickets are $12 to $15. For information and to purchase tickets go to www.caiff.org.
