Lamorinda was well represented at the North Coast Section (NCS) golf tournament. On the weekend of May 8th, all three Lamorinda high schools played in the NCS Team Tournament at Metropolitan Golf Links, a par 72 course, in Oakland. Two students from Acalanes High School and one from Campolindo High School represented Lamorinda in the individual qualifiers.
In Oakland, out of seventeen teams from across the Bay Area, Acalanes came in fifth, shooting a combined team score of 412. Miramonte came in eleventh with 458, and Campolindo finished right behind them in twelfth with 460.
In the individual tournament, junior Michael Schweibinz from Acalanes shot 79 to lead Lamorinda overall in the individual qualifier. Schweibinz came in fifteenth. "It was a miserable day, about the worst weather you could play in. And so a lot of guys that are a lot better than I am got some bad breaks allowing me to sneak in. I'm excited to have made the cut" remarked Schweibinz about his performance in Oakland.
Two spots behind him at seventeenth was fellow Dons teammate, junior Parker Ramsey, with 80.
From Campolindo, senior Bjorn Kallerud also shot 80 in the individual tournament.
Kallerud was chosen to play at the NCS Tournament of Champions in Arcata on May 17th, at Baywood Golf and Country Club. He was the only representative of Lamorinda. "I'm excited to play in NCS, but it's kind of a bummer going all the way to Arcata without my teammates," remarked Kallerud.
Kallerud came in 12th place and shot 74, two over par; despite the incredible performance he did not advance to NorCals.
