Cubs 7 A's 5
Drew Ventrelle's inside the park grand slam highlighted the Cubs victory in the second round of the playoffs. The Northsiders also got two hits and dazzling defense from Ryan Cardiff to preserve the win. Jack Thoren and Wayne Hawkins added hits for the Cubs and Joey Berzins and Evan Levy each scored a run. Kevin McConnell had a hit and scored a run for the A's and Ryan Regan banged out two hits.

Athletics 1 Rangers 0
In a classic pitchers' duel at Chaney Field, Chris Anderson's bunt squeezed home Ryan Summerlin with the winning run in the last of the fifth, sending the A's to the championship next Saturday. Nate Tarkoff, Ethan Fox and Tyler Schenone struck out 13 and walked one, while only surrendering four hits. Speedy Keaziah Smith walked twice and stole a base for the A's, while Yoshi Koyake and Tarkoff each were in the hit column. Ranger hurlers Brian Merken, Trenten Tso, Ryan Nall and Jared Kolsut were equal to the task, allowing only four hits themselves before Anderson's late-game heroics.

Rangers 7 Redsox 6
Leadoff hitter Trenton Tso and cleanup hitter Justin Pratt rapped out two hits each and scored two runs as the Rangers withstood a furious Redsox rally. Brian Merken also cubbed 2 hits and drove in two to go with two perfect innings on the mound, while teammate Kurren Tamer ignited a first-inning rally with a double down the first base line. Jeff Dible continued his excellent glove work at second, while Jared Kolsut pitched two solid innings for the winners.

Athletics 13 Angels
Power hitting Cam Price's perfect night at the plate and sidewinding reliever Ryan Sumerlin's perfect night on the hill helped the A's storm to the third round of the playoffs. Price drove in 5 and Sumerlin retired each of the three batters he faced in the winning effort. Tyler Schenone, Nate Tarkoff and Ethan Fox added timely hits for the A's, and Evan Bosshart speared a line drive at second to cut short an Angels rally. Ian Archer pitched two shutdown innings, and Garrett Dunne and Jake Finegold both slugged extra base hits for the Halos .
