| Lamorinda Students Win in Bay Area Ecological Art, Photography, Poetry and Writing Contest

Berkeley-based EarthTeam Environmental Network handed out awards for their 5th Annual Visuals & Voices Eco-art, Photography, Poetry and Writing Contest on May 28th. The awards were chosen from 350 ecologically themed submissions by creative middle and high school students from across the Bay Area. Many of the awards were given to Lamorinda students.
The following Lamorinda students were honored for their contributions:
Tina Curiel, who just graduated from Campolindo High School, won first place Honorable Mention in Art for her impactful collage, "Vulnerable." Jessie Kathan, also a Campolindo High School student, won second place in Writing for her article, "Greenwashing." Adam O'Camb of Miramonte High School won a Special Recognition Award for the amazing photographs he submitted over the school year - all of which were featured in the Green News Monthly that is sent to over 4,000 subscribers. In the separate middle school section, Joaquin Moraga stole the show. Alex Gannett won first place for his photo, "In Between Hops" and Elysa Campo won second place for her photo, "Grandpa's Orchid."
Megan Zhu won first place for her art submission, "Reflections" and Ariel Song won second place for "Exotic Waterfall."
The 1st and 2nd place entries received $75 and $25 respectively and all winners and honorable mentions received a formal certificate signed by State Senator Mark DeSaulnier.
