| Moraga Rotary Club collected almost three and 1/2 tons of electronic waste, 6,939 pounds, and will recycle it according to California law. The Club collected 4,396 pounds of monitor display items, 700 pounds of computer processing units, and about 1,843 pounds of radios, stereos, wiring, and other small items. Citizens dropped off their e-waste at the Moraga Shopping Center.
Rotarians working at this collection included Rich Render, Chairman, Jim Campbell, Vickie Devlin, David Kruegel, Gary Irwin, Lad Lynch, Kevin Reneau, Debbie Roessler, Mike Rosa, Tony Schoemehl, Al Simonsen, Herb Wehmeyer, and Louise and Ron Schopke. Gabriella Pavlova, President of the Rotaract Club at St. Mary's College, also helped.
Last September, Moraga Rotary collected e-waste in the same location, and also received a total of 3.5 tons electronic items to be recycled. The Club is planning another e-waste collection in September, and citizens are encouraged to bring their e-waste on the date to be announced and publicized. Moraga Rotary thanks the Bruzzone family, owners of the Moraga Shopping Center, for supporting this vital community service, and thanks all the citizens who dropped off e-waste at these events.
Moraga Rotary is a local service club within Rotary International that meets most Tuesdays at noon at St. Mary's College. For information, please call Gary Irwin of Moraga Rotary at 925-376-7688.
