The LMYA (Lafayette Moraga Youth Association) Dolphins may not have their home pool to practice in this summer, but it certainly is not slowing them down. This past weekend the LMYA Dolphins competed against swimmers from 20 other teams at the Battle of the Ages Swim Meet in Pleasant Hill.
Considered one of the area's premier Invitational Meets, the competition was fierce and LMYA came in second to the powerhouse Crow Canyon Country Club.
After the meet LMYA Head Coach, Marc Cavallero, remarked "I am very proud of our team. Despite the inconvenience of not having our own pool, the team is growing rapidly, the families are supportive, and the kids are working hard, having fun, and winning."
The team distributed many "gold caps" this weekend signifying a swimmer's qualification for the County Championships in August. Many LMYA swimmers took home top honors in their respective age groups this weekend including: High Point Winner - Caitlin Smith (six year old girls), Ben Larsen (six year old boys), his brother Jack Larsen (eight year old boys), Audrey Chang (10 year old girls), and Katie Records (16 year old girls).
Earlier this month LMYA took home first place Team Honors at the Nike Invitational at Diablo Valley College.
