Lafayette Little League 12's All-Star Run

Lafayette 1 Pinole/Hercules 2

The Lafayette 12 Year Old All-Stars began play in the District 4 Little League division tournament on Monday, June 5th against Pinole-Hercules. Drew Ventrelle's leadoff home run put Lafayette ahead immediately. Lafayette led by the 1-0 margin most of the way, with great defensive plays by center fielder Kevin Hanan, second baseman Ryan Cardiff, and shortstop Zach Kramer. Ventrelle pitched one hit ball through six full innings, walking none, and striking out 12 Pinole-Hercules players. A solo homerun by Pinole-Hercules' Gio Mijares tied the game. Pinole-Hercules scored the game's deciding run by stealing home with two outs in the seventh inning, winning the game 2-1.

Lafayette 10 Clayton Valley 1

Every member of the Lafayette team had at least one hit in the Lafayette 12 Year Old All-Stars' 10 to 1 victory over Clayton Valley. Ventrelle led off the game with a home run for the second consecutive game, giving Lafayette an immediate lead they would never relinquish. Ryan Cardiff tripled and reached base on two bunt singles. Kyle Everly, Matt Bostwick, and Matt Clark all added RBI hits. Jack Thoren, Brian Maiken, and Connor Yee all added singles for Lafayette. Zach Kramer, Clark, and Everly combined on the mound to hold Clayton Valley to only one run. Kevin Hanan made a fantastic diving catch in center field and singled for Lafayette.
