Boy Scouts of America Troop 224 is pleased to announce the attainment of Eagle rank for three of its members - Eric Lyman, Michael Bayer, and Troy Roberts. Troop 224 is chartered by Happy Valley Elementary School. They were honored at an Eagle Court of Honor on June 13th at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.

The Eagle Rank is the highest rank for Boy Scouts and only 4% of all scouts accomplish this goal. Eagle Scouts earn at least 21 merit badges, demonstrate leadership within their troop and on their individual Eagle project which must be a minimum of 100 volunteer hours.

Michael's Eagle Project was to renovate a flagstone patio at Christ the King Catholic Church. His team of 25 volunteers laid a new flagstone ground surface on top of sand and gravel with Mexican pebbles surrounding it. New concrete benches and flower pots were added.

Eric's Project was to design and construct a food preparation table for Springhill Elementary Garden. The table was constructed of redwood newly cut and cleaned. Cabinet doors were attached and a granite countertop was added. Nearby, a path was created, gravel areas improved and electrical and plumbing lines were extended.

Troy's project consisted of constructing and installing three separate shelving units for the Practice Room in the Music Room at Acalanes High School. Each are approximately six feet tall by three feet wide by two feet deep.
