The nation's best club volleyball teams gathered in Reno, Nevada, June 28 - July 2, 2010 for the 2010 Junior National Championships, previously known as Junior Olympics. Two East Bay club teams, Golden Bear and Xceleration, earned the right to compete in the National Division of the year's most important event.
Miramonte's Juliana Stivanicevic and Campolindo's Sandra Neason led the Golden Bear to a second place finish in the tournament. Not far behind, Xceleration took the fifth spot, led by Miramonte's Mary Diamantidis and Campolindo's Alex Shurtz and Anisa Smith.
Stivanicevic and Diamantidis also earned All-Tournament honors.
"These girls are unbelievable competitors and deserve the recognition they received," said Andy Schroeder, head coach of the Xceleration team.
