Lamorinda Represented in Fencing Pan-Am Championships

On August 3rd, Day One of the 2010 Pan American Championships in San Jose, Costa Rice came to a close and already Team USA has amassed two medals. Doris Willette, of Lafayette, finished first and tied for third in women's foil. Willette finished a perfect five-for-five in pool play en route to contribute a bronze medal to the US medal count.

Willette also competed with the U.S. Women's Foil team which won the gold. Team USA received a first round bye before defeating Cuba in the second round, Puerto Rico in the semi-finals and Canada in the finals.

The Championships serve as an individual and team qualifying tournament for the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
