The Lamorinda Soccer Club's (LMSC) girls' United 94 team won the Under 16 Premier bracket at the 30th Annual Mustang Stampede Soccer Tournament by beating the Central Valley Chillipeppers 2-0 in the championship game on August 9th.
United scored goals in each half, first from forward Becca Bostwick, then from Claire Winter on a give-and-go from Megan Turner. The United defense, anchored by Valerie Margerum, Sam Zarling, Ally Turner, Sophie Fuller and goalie Sophie Leksan, shut out the potent Chillipeppers offense while allowing only three shots on goal.
LMSC Technical Director and United 94 head coach Mohamed Mohamed praised the girls' effort and consistency over the three-day tournament, saying, "I am so happy for all 18 girls, as they played our possession soccer style with skill and patience, taking advantage of their scoring opportunities."
