With the candidacy application deadline passed, two of the three Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) Board of Director seats went unchallenged and, according to the Contra Costa Elections Office, the incumbents running will be appointed in lieu of election and will not appear on the November 2nd ballot. Frank Sperling of Division 1 and Richard Olsen of Division 3 will serve another four years on MOFD's Board of Directors beginning in December. Incumbent John Wyro is being challenged by Bob Jungbluth for the Division 4 Board position.
Below is a brief overview of the appointees and candidates:
Frank Sperling: Division 1. Current president of MOFD Board of Directors; previously elected to the Moraga Town Council and served as mayor of Moraga; current board member of the Moraga Education Foundation; past Commissioner and Chair of the Moraga Planning Commission; and, served on the joint Town of Moraga and City of Orinda Fire Services Study Committee.
Richard Olsen: Division 3. Current member of MOFD Board of Directors; former Vice-Chair of the Joint Town of Moraga/City of Orinda Fire Services Study Committee; served three terms on the Moraga Fire District Board of Commissioners; and, served as Chair of the Town of Moraga Revenue Enhancement Committee.
John Wyro: Division 4. Current member of MOFD Board of Directors; past member of Orinda's Union School District Board, served on the Orinda Fire District Board; past member of the Orinda Infrastructure Committee; involved with the formation of the MOFD; and, served as MOFD's first Board President.
Bob Jungbluth: Division 4. Orinda resident and Marketing and Public Relations consultant; current member of Orinda's Planning Commission; and, for several years helped raise money for Del Rey Elementary School's parent club.
