| | | | | | Like his fifth grade friends at Burton Valley Elementary School, Reider Martinsen spent the summer competing on multiple sports teams including soccer, baseball, and the LMYA swim team. In addition, Martinsen also trained for the Pacific Grove Sprint Triathlon. The triathlon took place on September 12, and consisted of a quarter-mile swim, 12.4 mile bike, and a two mile run. He has raced in many triathlons before, but this was the longest race he's attempted. As the youngest athlete (10) among the 630 participants, Martinesen was very excited to race with his mom at such a popular event. He finished with a time of one hour and 19 minutes and is looking forward to beating his time when he races again next year.
