On November 7, 2010, three outstanding volunteers from the Lafayette Service Unit were honored at the Girl Scouts of Northern California Volunteer Recognition Afternoon Tea held at The Villages in San Jose. Recipient Briana Taylor was awarded the Maud Whalen Continued Exceptional Service Award which is presented to a volunteer who has made a significant impact in two or more areas of the Council operations or policy. Recipients Linda Bailey and Colleen McCarty each were awarded the Appreciation Pin. This is a GSUSA award that is in recognition of significant contribution to council goals and exceptional service beyond the expectation of a volunteer position.
For the 2009-2010 Girl Scout year, GSNorCal is honoring 70 amazing volunteers and partners through Northern California. These outstanding adults, nominated by their peers, are a testament to the leadership and selfless contributions of the volunteers honored this year. Volunteers are the heart of Girl Scouting and we truly are grateful for what they do on behalf of girls. They help build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
