On Sunday June 5, the Lafayette Generals won the 680 PONY League 13/14 baseball post-season tournament in Sunnyvale. Coached by Dan O'Malley, Phil Remotto and Brad Fox, the team entered the tournament as the number two seed. Casey Harrington started the opening game and Jack Brydon threw two innings of relief as the Generals won 9-7 over Fremont B. In that game, Adam Remotto hit a long triple and Nash Wardy crushed a towering drive that bounced over the 310 foot fence in center field for a ground-rule double. Jared Finney stroked a two-run pinch hit single to provide the winning margin.
In the second-round game, Brady Aiello tossed four solid innings and Justin Reilly closed it out for a 12-2 win over Fremont A.
The Generals met the top-seeded team from Piedmont in the championship. Harrington threw a dominant complete game, allowing only one run. Remotto and Aiello provided the offensive spark, each hitting triples to drive in runs. The final score was 6-1 for the Generals.
Remotto led the Generals with eight hits in the three-game run to the title, including two triples and a double. Harrington had six hits, and Cole Ashburn contributed five.
