Saint Mary's women's soccer was unable to upend the No. 14 Santa Clara Broncos on Sunday, October 9. The Gaels took the lead early, with a goal from junior Christina Tognetti in the 47th minute off of passes from Caroline Kreuz and Jordan Marada (#10 pictured above). The Broncos responded with goals in the 52nd and 97th minutes to win the match 2-0.
The Gaels have not defeated the Broncos since 2000. With the loss the Gaels fall to 9-3-2 overall and 0-1-1 in WCC play.
Saint Mary's returns to action on Friday, October 14 against Loyola Marymount at 4 p.m. at Saint Mary's Stadium.
