Boy Scout Troop 237 Announces Five New Eagle Scouts

Orinda Boy Scout Troop 237 awarded five Scouts the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor on Feb. 26, at the Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church. The Court was opened and closed by Aklan District Commissioner Wick Smith. Reverend Frank Baldwin provided the Invocation and Benediction. John "Tanner" Cullen, Drew Holland, Tyler Kirchberg, Jason Lammert, and Charlie Wiser achieved Boy Scouting's highest award after completing their individual community services projects, which included building a cobb bench in The Garden of Learning at St. Perpetua School, organizing the collection of fruit from Urban Farmers and donating to the Contra Costa Food Bank, constructing a new trophy case at Orinda Intermediate School, installing new flower beds and landscaping at the TOPS Preschool, and building a new bench and restoration of the garden at the Orinda Community Church.
Boy Scouts of America Troop 237, chartered by the Orinda Community Church, has been serving the Orinda community for over 58 years and has recognized 188 Eagle Scouts over its history. Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, including 12 Eagle-required badges. They must also demonstrate leadership, outdoor skills, Scout spirit plus successfully complete a service project with a minimum of 100 volunteer hours to earn the Eagle award.
