Orinda has selected Drummond Buckley as its permanent planning director, filling a vacancy that has existed since last September. Buckley succeeds Interim Planning Director Victor Carniglia. He will officially assume office on Feb. 29.
Buckley worked as a Senior Planner in Orinda from 1996 to 1999. His other planning experience in the public sector includes planning director for Sausalito, and he has held various private sector planning positions. He returns to Orinda from Worley Parsons Corporation, a global engineering design and large scale project implementation company, where he served as an urban management and economics expert.
Buckley holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and a master's in Urban Planning from UCLA.
"Drummond has a profile blend of experience, education and skills that is well suited to meeting our organizational needs in the Planning Department and the Orinda community," says Orinda City Manager Janet Keeter. "I look forward to having Drummond join our organization and ... welcome him to our Orinda family."
