Kohl was president of the Orinda Art Council as well as music director and conductor of the Pacific Chamber Symphony; which performed in the Lamorinda area and in Livermore. Kohl recently led the expansion of the Orinda Art Council to become the Lamorinda Arts Council and supported the establishment and growth of new programs including the California Independent Film Festival, the Moraga Wine and Pear Festival, the High School Visual Arts Competition, the Lamorinda Short Docs Film Festival and the very popular Lamorinda Poet Laureate program.
He was nominated by Erling Horn, former Lafayette mayor and council member, and member of the Lafayette Art Committee.
A ceremony honoring Kohl and the other winners will take place at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Board of Supervisors Meeting, Office of County Administration, 651 Pine Street in Martinez.
