Carrie Nerheim, who holds a doctorate in education, will replace outgoing Orinda Union School District Director of Student Services Jennifer Woodman, who recently retired after five years of service. Nerheim is a third generation teacher, following in the footsteps of her mother, a teacher of developmentally disabled adults for 40 years, and her father, a continuation high school teacher for 20 years. Her parents' commitment to their students, coupled with her own school experiences, convinced Nerheim to become an educator. Most recently Nerheim served as the director of student services for Albany Unified. Nerheim earned a bachelor's degree in English from UCLA, a master's degree in educational leadership from Saint Mary's College and a doctorate in educational leadership for social justice from California State University, East Bay.
