Cal Shakes Cleanup

A team of workers from the East Bay Municipal Utility District, Cal Fire and the Moraga-Orinda Fire District recently spent several days thinning a eucalyptus grove near the Cal Shakes Theater entrance in Orinda. MOFD Fire Marshal Kathy Leonard said the project was funded by a grant from the Diablo Fire Safe Council. "The project goal is to keep fire from climbing up into the eucalyptus trees, which could cast burning embers for miles igniting new fires," said DFC Executive Coordinator Cheryl Miller. Cal Fire's Delta hand crew provided labor and EBMUD supplied the equipment. C. Dausman
