Ana Moon named Moraga Citizen of the Year
Moraga Citizens Network announced on April 2 that Ana Moon has been chosen as its 2026 Citizen of the Year for her "huge impact on the quality of the Moraga schools." Her extensive leadership for nearly a decade in the Moraga Education Foundation (MEF) has helped the Moraga schools maintain its nationally ranked educational quality due to the millions of dollars raised from MEF donations. In honor of Moraga’s 50th Anniversary, Moon produced the Moraga Community Cookbook, a masterpiece that features recipes from hundreds of Moraga residents, and was enthusiastically welcomed by cooks of all ages.
In 2017, Moon worked tirelessly with other women to advocate for an ordinance on the safe storage of firearms, a deeply emotional and highly debated issue. Moon helped bring the power of thoughtful, courageous advocacy that led the Town Council to pass this ordinance.
In sum, Moon’s impact and influence on the community has been inspiring over the years because she generously offers her experience, expertise and time to support projects and initiatives to better the community as a whole.
A reception to honor Moon will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church. Tickets can be secured at www.MCNMoraga.org
