KGO Anchor Speaks at Lamorinda SIRS 171

Sons in Retirement Lamorinda Branch 171 was very fortunate to obtain Dan Ashley, anchor of ABC7 News at 6 & 11 and ABC 7 News at 9 p.m. on Your TV 20, weekdays, as the after-lunch guest speaker at its October 6th luncheon.
Ashley came to ABC7 in 1995 as the weekday 5:00 p.m. news anchor and investigative reporter. He has received a number of awards, including two awards from the Radio Television News Directors Association of Northern California for Best Newscast (60 Minutes) and Best Newscast (30 Minutes). In 1996, ABC7 News at 6:00 p.m. won an Emmy for the most outstanding single news broadcast in a large market.
Ashley gave a very insightful and entertaining talk on the Ratings and Responsibilities of news reporting over the years and later answered numerous questions from the audience.
Sons in Retirement (SIR) is a non-profit men's organization for retirees or semi-retirees. Its sole purpose is to help retirees enjoy themselves through various group activities. Branch 171 meets the first Wednesday monthly at Holy Trinity Culture Center, Moraga.
