| Lamorinda Football Finishes 1-2 in NCS Playoffs
Miramonte wins; Campolindo, Acalanes lose in first round on Nov. 19

Miramonte:
Miramonte was the only Lamorinda team with a top seed. Their 10-1 overall record gave them a #3 seed in the NCS Division III bracket. The Mats hosted the Analy Tigers and managed to come out with a 17-3 win, despite the bad weather.
The rain was a huge factor and Miramonte chose to take advantage of junior quarterback Ross Anderson's running ability. Anderson ran for 152 yards on 22 carries.
Senior running back John Coupin was also instrumental for the Miramonte offense, running for 51 yards on ten carries.
The offense did not truly come alive until the fourth quarter when both Coupin and Anderson finally reached the end zone to extend the lead to 17-3.
Miramonte's defense held Analy to 66 rushing yards and 112 receiving.
Miramonte will take on San Marin on Saturday, November 27.
Campolindo
#15 Campolindo traveled to the North Bay to take on perennial powerhouse #2 Cardinal Newman. The Cougars came into the game with a three game losing streak and a losing record, 5-6. Cardinal Newman took full advantage of Campolindo, defeating them, 35-7.
The Cougars were down 0-21 at half time off of three touchdowns from the Cardinal's quarterback Stephen Tomasin.
Campolindo's sophomore quarterback Brett Stephens was 14 for 30, notching 183 yards but he also had four interceptions.
Acalanes
The #9 Dons took on #8 San Rafael in the first round of NCS Division III playoffs. Acalanes (5-6) looked like Lamorinda's best bet for an upset but San Rafael (10-1) proved an indomitable force. The Dons lost 12-27.
The weather proved to be a significant factor. Acalanes did not complete a single pass in the game and by the end of the first quarter were down 0-21. San Rafael scored in their first two possessions.
The Dons mustered some offense in the second half, notching two touchdowns but it was too little, too late.
Freshman Peter Mitchell, called up from the Dons' JV team, led the Acalanes offense, recording 72 rushing yards.
Head coach Mike Ivankovich said: "Weather prevented us from being able to pass to get back into the game and both teams have limited playoff experience, they just beat us."
